Commercial spaces demand tiling solutions that can handle the constant pressure of daily foot traffic, and this project at Chadstone Shopping Centre is a perfect example of expert tile repair and replacement work. As a professional commercial tiler, the goal was to ensure the entire high traffic area looked seamless and safe for shoppers while maintaining the original design aesthetic.
The job involved a combination of floor and wall tile repairs. In the main walkway, one marble floor tile was cracked and had to be replaced with a matching piece to maintain the flow of the design. Precision was critical, as the tile sat within a high traffic area where alignment, level, and grout finish had to match perfectly. Four additional tiles, located between metal floor elements, had become loose and broken due to constant vibration and wear. These were carefully removed and replaced with heavy duty adhesive and grout to ensure a long-lasting result.
Attention was also given to the surrounding feature areas. Five vertical stone tiles on the grey flower bed were severely damaged and chipped, compromising the visual appeal of the space. Each stone tile was removed without disturbing the surrounding tiling, then replaced with new pieces that matched in tone and finish. This brought the entire feature back to its original style, restoring the shopping centre’s clean, modern look.
Commercial tile repair in such a setting requires more than just swapping broken tiles. The use of high strength adhesives and flexible grouts ensures the tiles can handle the stress of a shopping centre environment, where floors experience thousands of steps every day and cleaning machines run regularly.
